Meet the owner, Miranda
At six months pregnant, I bought Thistle & Fern in July 2025.. and from that moment I completely fell in love with this little flower shop.
What started as a leap of faith during a very special season of life quickly became something even more meaningful than I imagined.
Every day I get to experience the joy that flowers bring to people.. the smiles when someone walks through our doors, the excitement of choosing the perfect bouquet, and the quiet moments when flowers help people express something words sometimes can’t.
Thistle & Fern has become so much more than just a florist. It’s a place where locals stop in for a chat, where beautiful seasonal flowers fill the shop each morning, and where every bouquet is thoughtfully designed to help celebrate life’s moments, big and small.
As a small, locally owned business, we care deeply about supporting local growers, creating beautiful arrangements that feel personal and unique, and giving our customers an experience they can truly trust.
Today, Thistle & Fern is proudly run with heart, creativity, and a love for our community and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of so many meaningful moments in people’s lives across the border

Miranda
Meet our Trainee Florist — and my sister — Mel.
Mel has dreamt of becoming a florist since she was a little girl. After spending more than 10 years working in retail and customer service, she followed another creative passion and studied fashion design in Melbourne. Her designs were even showcased at both Melbourne and Queensland Fashion Week.
After living in Melbourne for several years, Mel moved back home to Albury with her growing family after the birth of her second son and finally decided it was time to follow her childhood dream.
Now training as a florist at Thistle & Fern, Mel brings her incredible eye for design, creativity, and warmth with customers into every bouquet she creates. She is currently learning under the guidance of our experienced florists, including our wonderful manager Leisa, who brings over 20 years of floristry experience.
We feel so lucky to have Mel as part of the team and we know you’ll love the beautiful arrangements she helps create.
We are a small team of passionate and creative flower lovers, florists, and growers, working together to deliver the best product and service we could possibly offer our customers. We rejoice in all the seasons and in every bloom each new season brings. Using seasonal and primarily local (Australian grown) flowers is our priority.
Along with everyday flower deliveries, we can create arrangements for events, funerals, parties, baby showers, floral workshops… anything that needs a floral or botanical twist! Get in touch and we will try to help!
Meet our Manager & Incredible Florist Leisa
With over 20 years of experience in floristry, Leisa brings a whole lot of heart, creativity, and knowledge to every bouquet she touches. She’s a true flower lover through and through and her passion shows in the beautiful work she creates.
Leisa has worked for an array of florists including being in the hustle and bustle in areas such as Sydney & Queensland and has learnt from the best!
We are very glad that she now calls Thistle & fern home.

Local and independent.
We are local and independent. We love the area we live in. We source local and Australian grown flowers when we can, and support our local Flower suppliers. Our team comprises of locals, living throughout Nth East Victoria and The Albury/Wodonga regions.
We choose to buy Australian grown flowers over imported flowers as much as we can. We put a lot of love and care into our flowers and strive for sustainability in all areas of our business.
We do not create flower arrangements for companies like Roses Only, Bloomex, zFlowers, easyflowers, or any one of the ever-increasing flower companies with seemingly unlimited Google Adwords budgets.
What you see is what you get, we are a small but growing team, we are real people with a true passion for flowers and for the business we have created.
